About the whole Bible-supporting-slavery bit: I wonder why this guy didn't bring up Onesimus as a proof-text.

Great post. I've been really frustrated by this whole gay marriage thing, and about how all of the sudden, these people who never regularly read the bible, suddenly become experts, and somehow usurp the power to interpret it as they see fit, and then expect others to believe them.

Don't mock the Bible like that. If these people want a book, they should write their own, and call it the "Book of Atheists" or something.

I got the next issue of Newsweek in the Library today. I immediately turned to the editoral section hoping an excerpt from Allan's letter would be there. It wasn't. There was mostly just letters from "Christians" with really bizarre ideas. Go figure Newsweek not posting a reply from a Christian that's actually logical and makes sense.

Jon Meacham has really disappointed me. I'm reading his biography on Andrew Jackson now and his treatment of Jackon's religion is so much fairer than he gives the Christians of today.
